Learn a lively choreography to this popular Indian song!
Maysameh will be teaching a Bollywood/Bhangra Fusion choreography to the popular song “Say Shava Shava.” This song was made popular by the Bollywood movie entitled, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (Sometimes Happiness, Sometimes Sadness).
Bollywood dancing is a commercial name for modern Indian dancing. It's a combination of classical Indian dance (which is the base), folk dancing such as Bhangra and sometimes has a Latino and Arabic influence. It's fun and very expressive and there's a lot of deep meaning behind music in the films. You can actually express what the music means, through the graceful movements of the body.
Bhangra dancing is a traditional form of Indian folk dance performed in the Punjab region of India. The energetic music which accompanies this dance has become popular around the world. Bhangra dancing can be seen in many parts of India, in the US, popular movies and at competitions all over the world.
This dance will be taught with notes and English translation of the song’s meaning.

A Workshop Using Tribal Combinations, Cues & Chorus to Create Beautiful Improvisational Tribal Dancing
Maysameh will be teaching easy-to-use tribal style combos to create beautiful improv dancing that is fun for all levels! This workshop will cover 6 basic tribal style combos signaled by cues and transitions. At the end of this workshop, you will leave with the fundamentals of tribal and an exciting beginning to your very own tribal language!

Maysameh owns and operates Rhythmic Essence Belly Dance Studios of Newton and Mooresville, NC. Maysameh is a member of MEDLS and received her American Tribal Style General Skills Certificate (Oct. 2007) from the founder of ATS dance, Carolena Nericcio, also founder/leader of the popular FatChanceBellyDance.
