2009 GOTHIC TRIBAL BELLY DANCER OF THE YEAR

Largely self-taught, Khalida Mahira is a committed
teacher as well as a performer, who has a distinct love for the
vintage variety. With a passion for performing, her goal is to paint
a picture for the audience as if her body was formed from the music.
Today, she is an innovator in costume design, and has hand-crafted
and pieced her dance wear together to reflect her style. Her dance
style is a derivative of contemporary Tribal, Hiphop, Urban sass,
and Gothic ideas.
Khalida was awarded "Star Gothic Tribal
Bellydancer of 2009" by MEDLS (Middle Eastern Dance Leaders Society)
and was also a headliner for Tribal Delight 2009 in Williamsburg, VA
alongside Aela Badiana and Frederique. She would like to acknowledge
her first mentor, Moria Chappell, and all of her friends and family
that support, encourage, and inspire her. |
